Congratulations!! It’s a Baby Girl
Congratulation!!
It’s a baby girl!!
The voice reaches to the ear, but there was no joy to the display.
You could hear her crying.
It’s like a norm or a sound to announce to you as a part of the world.
So, like everyone else, initially, it was all about crying, eating and a bit of learning to smile, cheering up others with every little act.
The journey begins, she grew up with the brightest eyes, a blunt mouth, and a pure heart.
She was everything a world expects from a girl.
Pretty, happy, and joyfully teasing here and there.
Perfect, right?
Not exactly.
Laughter is too loud, words are too blunt, and what? You are thinking out loud too?
We taught you to look pretty and just smile…
Where did you learn to talk back?
From a male cousin, perhaps. Because when he jokes about my pretty face, nobody gave him a shut-up call.
Maybe from a guy who tried to have held on to me while I was walking back home.
Maybe from the time when my father didn’t speak up for me.
Maybe when my mother told me to stay silent because your harsh words are hurting the loved ones.
Be careful when you talk, when you walk and when you smile.
Smile but that can be your clue to a stranger.
You try a Bitch face…come on girl, why are you so hard on yourself?
Have questions? What for?
Did you see the pattern?
She followed the norm as an infant…
She cried, she laughed and she cared.
But she started questioning the norms when she was told to limit her laugh, careful when she smiles, and was left broken when she cared.
What now?
She has changed from a bold and attractive girl to a simple boring decidedly uninterested lady. She again settled herself into the norms. Again she started looking her ways to look pretty or if I say pretty HOT.
Yes, the less-traveled road was all full of thorns and If you were there, you would have seen her giving up on her too.
Everybody clapped that she has matured by time.
Nobody asked if she misses the time when her wings only knew to fly and not just to shelter her dreams to keep them safe.
